Investigating the Relationship between Technology Addictions on Social Skills of Students of Electronic Courses

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between technology addiction and the social skills of students of electronic courses at Isfahan University. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population was all students of electronic courses of Isfahan University, who were 311 in the academic year 1396-97. The sample size was 159 according to Crecy and Morgan's table, and simple random sampling was used. Data were collected using two questionnaires: Young's Internet Addiction Questionnaire (1998) and Gresham and Elliot Social Skills Scale (1993). Data were analyzed by SPSS software. The results showed that there is a negative and significant relationship between technology addiction and the social skills of students. The results also showed that there is a significant linear relationship between the predictor variable (social skills) and the criterion variable (technology addiction), so that the social skills variable is able to predict 3.1% of the variance in technology addiction. There was a significant negative relationship between all components of social skills and technology addiction (p <0.01). Therefore, it can be said that the level of social skills has a positive and significant relationship with the reduction of technology addiction and predicts the reduction of technology addiction.
